The Broadway production of Newsies, previously billed as an extended limited engagement through August 19, has now been announced to be an open-ended run at the Nederlander Theatre. A new block of tickets for performances August 20 – November 18 will go on sale Monday, May 21 at 10am, and group sales are being taken through January 6, 2013.

Set in New York City at the turn of the century, Newsies, with music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Jack Feldman, and a book by Harvey Fierstein, tells the story of Jack Kelly (played by Jordan), a charismatic newsboy and leader of a ragged band of teenaged ‘newsies,’ who dreams only of a better life far from the hardship of the streets.

The company features Jeremy Jordan as Jack Kelly, John Dossett as Joseph Pulitzer, Kara Lindsay as Katherine Plumber, Capathia Jenkins as Medda Larkin, Ben Fankhauser as Davey, and Andrew Keenan-Bolger as Crutchie, as well as Lewis Grosso and Matthew Schechter who alternate in the role of Les.

The creative team includes scenic designer Tobin Ost, costume designer Jess Goldstein, lighting designer Jeff Croiter, projections designer Sven Ortel, and sound designer Ken Travis.
