Will Frears to Direct New Off-Broadway Thriller Afraid of the Dark

Will Frears will direct the new thriller Afraid of the Dark, presented Off-Broadway at the Little Shubert Theatre, beginning previews September 8. Casting and an opening night will be announced at a later date.

The author of the piece writes anonymously, with the show conceived and developed by this person, along with Jim Steinmeyer, Devlin Elliott, and Tom Kirdahy. It is at once a play and a singular theatrical experience, depicting as it does the ghoulish and fantastical things that happen when four people, all acquaintances, are visited by a mysterious, cryptic stranger.

The production will feature scenic design by Neil Patel, lighting design by Jules Fisher and Peggy Eisenhauer, costume design by Jenny Mannis, and sound design by Fitz Patton.

Frears’ numerous credits include The Water’s Edge, Year Zero, Omnium Gatherum, and Where We’re Born.
