Tim Griffin to Become Executive Director and Chief Curator of The Kitchen

Tim Griffin has been named the new executive director and chief curator of The Kitchen. He will assume this position in September, succeeding Debra Singer who will leave the organization effective August 31.

Griffin served as editor of Artforum for seven years. Prior to that he was art editor of Time Out New York. During his time with both publications, he has worked on projects and texts with architects, artists, choreographers, composers, and filmmakers such as Maryanne Amacher, Trisha Brown, Björk, Merce Cunningham, Tacita Dean, Cerith Wyn Evans, Harun Farocki, Cyprien Gaillard, Mary Heilmann, Thomas Hirschhorn, Rem Koolhaas, Michael Krebber, Joan Jonas, Louise Lawler, Chris Marker, Nico Muhly, Yoko Ono, Yvonne Rainer, Allen Ruppersberg, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Kelley Walker, and La Monte Young, among others.

His book on site-specific art and performance will be published in 2012 by Sternberg Press.
