PHOTO FLASH: "Cousin Brucie" Morrow Appears in Memphis

On Tuesday, May 3, Radio personality and author “Cousin Brucie” Morrow made the first of several cameos in the Tony Award-winning musical Memphis, playing at the Shubert Theatre. Morrow will appear as the White DJ in the production through May 8.

Cousin Brucie will open the show with material created especially for him by book writer Joe DiPietro. His appearance coincides with the release of the paperback edition of his book Rock & Roll…And the Beat Goes On. Directed by Christopher Ashley and featuring choreography by Sergio Trujillo, Memphis, is based on a concept by George W. George and has a book by DiPietro and music and lyrics by Bon Jovi founding member David Bryan.

Cousin Brucie was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 1988, the Broadcasting & Cable’s Hall of Fame in 1990, and the National Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2001. His other books include his autobiography, Cousin Brucie: My Life in Rock & Roll Radio and Doo Wop: The Music, The Times, The Era.
