New Broadway Production of Annie to Hold NYC Open Call June 12

The new Broadway production of Annie, which as previously reported will be directed by James Lapine in the fall of 2012, will hold an open call in New York City on Sunday, June 12, for girls ages 6-12 to audition for the roles of Annie and the orphans.

Auditions will be held from 10am to 4pm at 200 East 87th Street. Check-in time is 9am. Auditioners should be prepared to sing a song acapella and should also bring sheet music, in case they are asked to sing with accompaniment. However, they should not prepare music from the show.

Annie features music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin and book by Thomas Meehan, and is based on the newspaper character “Little Orphan Annie” by Harold Gray. The score includes “Maybe,” “It’s the Hard Knock Life,” “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile,” “Easy Street,” “I Don’t Need Anything But You” and “Tomorrow”.
