Gerard Alessandrini, Tyne Daly, David Hyde Pierce, et al. Set for George Street Playhouse Season

Tony Award winner Tyne Daly will star in the world premiere of a new musical, It Shoulda Been You, with a book and lyrics by Brian Hargrove and music by Barbara Anselmi, to run October 4-November 6 at the George Street Playhouse in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Tony Award winner David Hyde Pierce will direct the show, which is about an interfaith wedding that spins out of control. Daly will play the mother of the bride. Additional casting and creative team will be announced shortly.


The season will also include The Nutty Nutcracker Musical, a spoof of the holiday classic using Tchaikovsky’s score and featuring a book and lyrics by Peter Brash and Gerard Alessandrini, to run November 29-January 1. David Saint will direct the production.


The Playhouse will also present the New Jersey premiere of John Logan’s Tony Award-winning play Red, to run January 31-February 26. Anders Cato will direct the production.


Two more productions for Spring 2012 will be announced at a later date.
