Beth Leavel, Nellie McKay, Andrew Rannells, John Tartaglia, et al. Set for Broadway Stands Up For Freedom

Casting has been announced for The New York Civil Liberties Union’s benefit show, Broadway Stands Up for Freedom, to be held at the NYU Skirball Center for Performing Arts on Monday, July 25. Seth Rudetsky will host and musical direct, and the show will directed by Daniel Goldstein.

The line-up will include Erica Ash, de’Adre Aziza, Erich Bergen, John Gallagher, Jr., Nikki M. James, Celia Keenan-Bolger, Beth Leavel, Nellie McKay, , Lindsay Mendez, Zachary Prince, Andrew Rannells, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Christina Sajous, John Tartaglia, and Alysha Umphress, along with founding performer Liana Stampur with Clinton Curtis.

Honorary Chairs include Billy Crudup, Alan Cumming, Harvey Fierstein, Bill Irwin, Tom Kitt, Tony Kushner, Susan Sarandon, Tom Schumacher, Stephen Schwartz, Marc Shaiman, and Scott Whitman.

Proceeds from the show benefit the NYCLU’s youth programs, including its work with LGBT teenagers; its Teen Health Initiative, which educates teenagers on their rights to access health care in New York City; and its work to stop overly aggressive policing and military recruiting in the city’s public schools.
