Susan Hilferty, Rebecca Patterson Win League of Professional Theatre Women Awards

Tony Award winning costume designer Susan Hilferty has won the Ruth Morley Design Award from the League of Professional Theatre Women (LPTW) and director Rebecca Patterson has won the organization’s LPTW Lucille Lortel Award and accompanying $3,000 grant. The prizes will be presented at an award luncheon to be held on Thursday, June 10 at Sardi’s Restaurant.

Hilferty won Tony, Outer Critics Circle and Drama Desk Awards for her work on Wicked, and is also currently represented on Broadway with Sondheim on Sonhdeim She also received a Tony Award nomination for her designs for Spring Awakening. She also chairs the Department of Design for Stage and Film at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.

Patterson has directed Wapato and Greeks & Centaurs for the Women’s Project, The Gabriels at SPF and The Imaginary Invalid for Resonance Ensemble. She is artistic director of The Queen’s Compay, known for its productions of classical plays featuring all-female casts, where she has staged The Wonder, Twelfth Night, The Taming of the Shrew, Edward II, and School For Scandal, among others.
