PHOTO FLASH: Lea Michele and Jeff Daniels Announce Tony Award Nominations

Jeff Daniels and Lea Michele announced the nominations for the 2010 Tony Awards this morning at the New York Public Library for Performing Arts. The Tony Awards will be presented on June 13, in a live three-hour ceremony to be broadcast by CBS from Radio City Music Hall.

The musicals Fela! and La Cage Aux Folles led the pack with 11 nominations, while Memphis picked up 8 nominations and Ragtime got 7 nods. On the play side, the revival of Fences received 10 nominations, followed by Red with 7 nominations, and A View from the Bridge with 6.

Daniels is currently starring on Broadway in God of Carnage, and received a Tony nomination for his work in the show. His many film credits include Dumb and Dumber, The Purple Rose of Cairo, Something Wild, and Terms of Endearment.

Michele is best known for her starring role on TV’s Glee. She received a Drama Desk nomination for her performance in Spring Awakening, with additional Broadway credits including Ragtime, Les Miserables, and Fiddler on the Roof.
