PHOTO FLASH: Christopher Ashley, Jonathan Cake, Rachel Dratch, Claudia Shear, Tommy Tune at Restoration Opening

Claudia Shear’s new play Restoration, performing at New York Theatre Workshop, opened last night, May 19. Christopher Ashley has directed the production.

In the show, Shear plays Giulia, a down-on-her-luck art restorer from Brooklyn who receives what could possibly be a career-reviving job of “refreshing” Michelangelo’s David in time for its quincentennial celebration in Florence.

The cast also includes Tina Benko, Jonathan Cake, Alan Mandell, Danny Mastrogiorgio, and Natalija Nogulich.

Opening night guests included Saturday Night Live alum Rachel Dratch and nine-time Tony Award winner Tommy Tune.
