Midtown North and South New York City Police Precincts to Receive Special Tony Honor

The Tony Award Administration Committee has announced that the Midtown North and South New York City Police Precincts will receive a Tony Honor for Excellence in the Theatre, in recognition of their many years of outstanding service to the theatre district.

The Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre were established in 1990 and are awarded annually to institutions, individuals and/or organizations that have demonstrated extraordinary achievement in theatre, but are not eligible in any of the established Tony Award categories.

As previously reported, 2010 Tony Honors will also be given to The Alliance of Resident Theatres New York (A.R.T./New York); stage combat teacher and director B.H. Barry; and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS’ Executive Director Tom Viola.

The awards will be presented on June 13, in a live three-hour ceremony to be broadcast by CBS from Radio City Music Hall.
