Kate Baldwin, Viola Davis, Douglas Hodge, Laura Linney, Bobby Steggert, et al. Win ITBA Awards

The winners for the 2nd Annual Independent Theater Bloggers Association (ITBA) Awards have been announced.

In the organization’s Broadway categories, American Idiot and La Cage Aux Folles have won as Outstanding Musical and Outstanding Revival, respectively. Additionally, Red was named Outstanding New Broadway Play and A View From The Bridge received an award as Outstanding Broadway Play Revival.

Recognition of works seen off- and off-off-Broadway include awards for Circle Mirror Transformation (Outstanding Off-Broadway Play and Outstanding Ensemble) and Yank! (Outstanding Off-Broadway Musical).

In addition, citations for excellence by individual performers have gone to Nina Arianda (Venus In Fur), Kate Baldwin (Finian’s Rainbow), Desiree Burch (The Soup Show), Rebecca Comtois (Viral), Viola Davis (Fences), Jon Michael Hill (Superior Donuts), Douglas Hodge (La Cage Aux Folles), Sarah Lemp (The Pied Pipers of the Lower East Side & Happy In The Poorhouse), Laura Linney (Time Stands Still), Jan Maxwell (The Royal Family & Lend Me A Tenor), Bobby Steggert (Ragtime & Yank!) and Amy Lynn Stewart (Viral).

The organization had previously announced that it elected to award Taylor Mac’s The Lily’s Revenge as Outstanding Unique Off-Off Broadway Experience, and that it had awarded a Citation For Excellence In Off-Off Broadway Theatre is the Brooklyn-based Company XIV.
