Filmmaker John Waters will participate in a conversation about his memoir Role Models on June 7 at 8pm in Bryant Park, on the Upper Terrace. The event is part of the LIVE from the NYPL series.

Waters’ book is a self-portrait told through intimate profiles of favorite personalities — some famous, some unknown, some criminal, and some middle-of-the-road, including Esther Martin, owner of the scariest bar in Baltimore, playwright Tennessee Williams; atheist leader Madalyn Murray O’Hair, martyr Saint Catherine of Siena, English novelist Denton Welch and singer Johnny Mathis.

Waters’ films include two that inspired Broadway musicals, Hairspray and Cry-Baby, as well as Pink Flamingos, Polyester, and Serial Mom, among others.

Free seating for the event will open at 7pm. No reservations are required.
