Amy Aquino, Bill Brochtrup, John Glover, Mark Nelson, and Noah Robbins will star in the New York premiere of Jonathan Tolins’ Secrets of the Trade, to be presented by Primary Stages at 59E59 Theaters, July 27-September 4, with an opening on August 10. Matt Shakman will direct.

In the play, Andy Lipman (Robbins), a smart, ambitious kid from Long Island dreams of a career on Broadway and hopes that his idol, theater legend Martin Kerner (Glover), can give it to him. Will Kerner open Andy’s door to success, or will their complicated relationship force him to question a life in the theater?

The creative team will include Mark Worthington (set), Mike Durst (lights), and John Gromada (sound).

Glover received a Tony Award for Love! Valour! Compassion! and was Tony-nominated for Waiting for Godot. In addition to his theater work, he has received five Emmy Award nominations for his work on television and has been seen in numerous films. Robbins made his Broadway debut in the 2009 revival of Brighton Beach Memoirs, receiving an Outer Critics Circle nomination for his starring role as Eugene Morris Jerome.

Secrets of the Trade received its world premiere in 2008 at the Black Dahlia Theatre in Los Angeles directed by Shakman and featuring Aquino, Brochtrup and Glover.
