Doug Elkins, John Kelly, Sara Rudner, et al. Set for La MaMa Moves! Festival and Benefit

Doug Elkins, John Kelly, David Neumann, Jon Kinzel, and Rashaun Mitchell will all perform at a special La MaMa Moves! gala fundraiser to be held at La MaMa ETC on June 8. Dancer/choreographer Sara Rudner and Dublin Dance Festival Director Laurie Uprichard will be honored at the event, which will raise money for the organization.

In addition to the performances, comments about the honorees are expected from Carolyn Brown, Deborah Jowitt, Carla Peterson, Marcia Siegel, and Jawole Willa Jo Zollar (via DVD). The benefit will also feature an after party that will unfold throughout the facility’s three lobbies.

The event is part of Dance Moves! 2010, a festival of dance to run at the theater June 4-20. Over 75 different performers, several of whom are appearing at La MaMa for the first time, and many of whom are crossing the pond, are scheduled to appear in the Festival, including Rudner, Mitchell, Elkins, and Kelly, along with Ellen Fisher, Judith Sanchez Ruiz, John Scott, and Jennifer Monson.
