Christina Kirk, de’Adre Aziza, Will Rogers, et al. Set for Public Theater’s New Work Now!

Casting has been announced for the first five plays that will be presented as part of the Public Theater‘s New Work Now! series, to run May 7-23.

Along with Wings of Night, Wings of Morning Light, written and performed by Joy Harjo, and directed by Randy Reinholz (May 7 at 7pm), offerings during the first week of the series will also include Rhiana Yazzie’s Ady, directed by Hayley Finn and featuring de’Adre Aziza and Thirza Defoe (May 8); and A. Rey Pamatmat’s Edith Can Shoot Things and Hit Them (May 9), directed by Lisa Peterson, with a cast that will include Christopher Larkin, Teresa Avia Lim, Will Rogers, and Jon Norman Schneider (May 9).

The series will continue with Mona Mansour’s Urge for Going, to be directed by Joanna Gruenhut, featuring Tala Ashe, Ramsey Faragallah, Sevan, Greene, Omar Koury, Mozhan Marno, Laith Nakli, and Babak Tafti (May 10). Up next will be The Civilians’ The Great Immensity (May 12), written and directed by Steven Cosson and featuring music and lyrics by Michael Friedman and a company that will include Blair Baker, Damian Baldet, Hannah Cabell, and Christina Kirk.

New Work Now! will also include Thomas Bradshaw’s Mary (May 13), Katori Hall’s Our Lady Kibeho (May 16); Welcome Home, Dean Charbonneau (May 17), written and directed by Adam Rapp, Universes’ Americille (May 18); Deborah Asiimwe’s Forgotten World (May 21), and Diana Son’s Jane Says (May 23).
