Wagner appeared in the original Broadway production of Oklahoma! as well as the 1941 musical Sunny River and a 1946 production of The Winter's Tale.

She worked in television in the 1950s, including originating the role of Trudy Bauer Palmer in The Guiding Light, before joining ATWT.

In 2004, she received a Daytime Emmy Award for Lifetime Achievement.
