Stephen Adly Guirgis to Direct Consumption Reading

The InViolet Repertory Theater Company will present a free reading of two original one-act plays, at the Kraine Theater on May 19 and 20, at 7:00 pm.

Stephen Adly Guirgis will direct a reading of Melanie Angelina Maras’ Consumption, about how in relationships, we force people into roles they are often unwilling or incapable of playing. The cast will include Marc Menchaca, Francis Benhamou, and Megan Hart. Guirgis is best known as a playwright, whose works include Jesus Hopped the A Train, Our Lady of 121st Street, and Little Flower of East Orange.

Maria Goyanes will direct See Jane Talk, by Megan Hart. The play examines the values and trappings of therapy. It will be performed by Melanie Angelina Maras and Sara Van Beckum.
