Skylar Astin, Will Chase, Timothy Warmen, et al. Set for Vineyard Theatre’s Burnt Part Boys

David Abeles, Skylar Astin, Al Calderon, Will Chase, Kevin Csolak, Andrew Durand, John Schippa, Timothy Warmen, and Bubba Weller will star in The Vineyard Theatre’s LAB production of The Burnt Part Boys, May 26-June 6.

The production will be directed by Erica Schmidt, with music direction by Vadim Feichtner. The creative team will include Derek McLane (scenic consultant), Kaye Voyce (costume consultant), David Weiner (lighting consultant), and Brett Jarvis (sound consultant).

The show, which features a book by Mariana Elder with lyrics by Nathan Tysen and music by Chris Miller, originally premiered at Barrington Stage Company. It will be further developed at New York Stage and Film this summer, and will have a full production at Playwrights Horizons in the spring of 2010.

Set in West Virginia in 1962, the musical follows a group of teenagers whose fathers were killed ten years earlier in a tragic coal mining accident. When they learn that the mine will be reopened, they set out secretly in the hopes of seeing the site, and keeping it closed.
