Robert Newman to Join Off-Broadway’s Sessions on May 29

Daytime Emmy Award nominee Robert Newman, best known for his long-running role as Josh Lewis on CBS’ Guiding Light, will take on the lead role of Dr. Peterson in Albert Tapper’s musical Sessions at the Algonquin Theatre on May 29. The production is directed by Thomas Cote, with choreography by Penny Ayn Maas and musical direction by Steven Gross.

The show focuses on an affluent New York therapist who discovers his own life is as much in need of examination as those of his patients. The cast includes Maya Days, Liz Larsen, Al Boudonis, Bertilla Baker, Scott Richard Foster, Ken Jennings, Kelli Maguire, and Sky Seals; Dennis Holland plays the role of Dr. Peterson on Wednesday matinees.

The creative team includes John McDermott (sets), Michele Pasqua (costumes), Brant Thomas Murray (lighting), Josh Liebert (sound), and James Horvath (additional choreography).

Newman’s many stage credits include The Fantasticcks, The Robber Bridegroom, Shenandoah, Nine, and A Little Night Music.
