The world premiere of the new musical Coraline, presented by MCC Theater and currently in previews at the Lucille Lortel Theater, has extended through July 5.

This musical adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s novel is directed by Leigh Silverman, and is about poor bored 9-year-old Coraline’s disorienting journey into a perfected replica of her own world that rapidly turns nightmarish. The piece features original music and lyrics by Stephin Merritt and book by David Greenspan.

The cast stars Jayne Houdyshell in the title role and Greenspan as the “Other Mother,” along with Juilian Fleisher (Cat), Francis Jue (Father, Miss Forcible, Other Miss Forcible), January LaVoy (Mother, Miss Spink, Other Miss Spink), Elliot Villar (Mr. Bobo, Other Mr. Bobo), and William Youmans (Other Father).
