Henry Miller’s Theatre to House Roundabout’s Bye Bye Birdie

The recently completed Henry Miller’s Theatre on West 43rd Street will be an additional home for the Roundabout Theater Company, and will host its upcoming Broadway production of the Charles Strouse-Lee Adams-Michael Stewart musical Bye Bye Birdie,, to be directed and choreographed by Robert Longbottom. The show will run September 10-January 10, with an official opening on October 15.

The show will star John Stamos as Albert Peterson, Gina Gershon as Rosie Alvarez, Bill Irwin as Harry MacAfee, and Jayne Houdyshell as Mae Peterson, with additional casting to be announced at a later date. The creative team will include Andrew Jackness (sets), Gregg Barnes (costumes), Ken Billington (lighting), Acme Sound Partners (sound), and David Chase (music supervision)

The 1,055-seat house, which is inside the new 55-story Bank of America Tower, will be New York’s first environmentally “green” and LEED-rated theater. Roundabout has signed a 20-year lease on the theater, which will be its third Broadway space.
