League of Professional Theatre Women Announces 2008 Awards

The League of Professional Theatre Women will present their annual awards on Thursday, June 12 at a luncheon at Sardi’s.

The Ruth Morley Designing Women Award, established in 1998, will go for the first time to a sound designer, Jill BC Du Boff. She has designed the sound for such shows as The Constant Wife, The Good Body, Beebo Brinker Chronicles, Spain, and Well.
The League’s Lucille Lortel Award, which comes with a $2,500 cash grant, will be given to Page 73 Productions which provides a home for developing and producing new work by early-career playwrights; while the brand-new Lucille Lortel Women’s Visionary Award, which comes with a $1,000 cash grant, is being given to Voice & Vision, a New York-based company that develops work with women at the core and provides them with time, space and resources to create in an environment free from commercial pressures.
