Amari, Houston, Lessack, Marcovicci, Sullivan Set for Y’s Did the American Songbook Really End in 1965?

Andrea Marcovicci will be artistic director and star of the 92nd Street Y’s final entry in this season’s Lyrics & Lyricists series, Did the American Songbook Really End in 1965?, to run May 31-June 2. Her guests will include singers Francesca Amari, Kelly Houston, Lee Lessack, and Stacy Sullivan; they will be joined by music director Shelly Markham.

The show will feature songs by writers from the worlds of pop music, film, and the stage, including Hal David and Burt Bachrach, Carole King, James Taylor, Billy Joel, Joni Mitchell, The Beatles, Paul Simon, Alan and Marilyn Bergman, Cy Coleman, Dorothy Fields, Jerry Herman, Leslie Bricusse, Henry Mancini, and Stephen Sondheim.

Marcovicci recently appeared in Coco and is one of the country’s most popular cabaret and recording artists. She has conceived and performed in three previous Lyrics & Lyricists entries, including Kurt Weill in America.
