Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s Love & Other Social Issues to Play L.A.

Love & Other Social Issues, written by and starring Malcolm-Jamal Warner, will play the Assistance League Playhouse in Los Angeles, June 1-July 8. The show will be directed by Denise Dowse.

Accompanied by a five-piece band, Warner gives a bird’s-eye view on inner-city life, self-esteem, matters of the heart, the drug culture, and life’s ever-constant changes.
The piece has previously been seen at the National Black Theatre in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Warner first came to fame as Theo Huxtable in The Cosby Show and has since co-starred in the TV series Jeremiah and Listen Up. His stage credits include Three Ways Home, Cryin’ Shame, Freefall, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Dowse’s directorial credits include Long Time Since Yesterday and When Willows Weep in Foxholes, both of which earned her NAACP Awards. Her acting credits include Beverly Hills 90210, Ray, and Coach Carter.
