Artistic director Kevin Spacey today announced details of his fourth season at the Old Vic, in which he will star as Hollywood producer Bobby Gould in a revival of David Mamet’s Speed-the-Plow in early 2008.

The season will launch with the stage version of Pedro Almodóvar’s Oscar-winning 1999 film All About My Mother (August 25-November 24), adapted by Samuel Adamson, directed by Tom Cairns, and designed by Hildegard Bechtler. The plot revolves around single mother Manuela who, after the death of her 17-year-old son, heads to Barcelona in search of his father, who never knew he had a child. Once there, Manuela gets caught up in the lives of three women: the famous actress her son admired, a pregnant nun, and a long-lost transvestite friend.

Up next will be Stephen Fry’s new pantomime version of Cinderella (December 4-January 20), in which the author may play the narrator. It will be followed in 2008 by Speed-the-Plow (dates TBA) and the first installment of the previously announced The Bridge Project, in which Oscar winner Sam Mendes will direct Tony Award winner Stephen Dillane in Hamlet and The Tempest (dates TBA).
