Coker, deBenedet, Reed, et al. Set for The Second Tosca

Jeremy Beck, Tug Coker, Rachel deBenedet, Eve Gigliotti, Mark Light-Orr, Melissa Picarello, Vivian Reed, and Carrington Vilmont will star in Tom Rowan’s new play The Second Tosca, June 8-July 1 at the 45th Street Theatre. The production, which will open officially on June 13, will be directed by Kevin Newbury.

The play, a contemporary comedy, takes place backstage at Opera California during rehearsals for a production of Tosca and features music from the operas of Puccini, Verdi, and other composers. Among Rowan’s other plays are Kiss and Cry and David’s Play.

The creative team includes Charlie Corcoran (sets), Joanne Haas (costumes), D.M. Wood (lighting), and Jill BC DuBoff (sound). Newbury’s theater credits include Kiss and Cry and Candy and Dorothy; he has also worked with some of the country’s largest opera companies.
