The play, a contemporary comedy, takes place backstage at Opera California during rehearsals for a production of Tosca and features music from the operas of Puccini, Verdi, and other composers. Among Rowan's other plays are Kiss and Cry and David's Play.
The creative team includes Charlie Corcoran (sets), Joanne Haas (costumes), D.M. Wood (lighting), and Jill BC DuBoff (sound). Newbury's theater credits include Kiss and Cry and Candy and Dorothy; he has also worked with some of the country's largest opera companies.
