Rashad, Richardson, Schreiber to Announce 2006 Tony Award Nominees

Tony Award winners Phylicia Rashad, Natasha Richardson, and Liev Schreiber will announce the nominees for the 60th annual Tony Awards on Tuesday, May 16 at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. The awards will be given out on Sunday, June 11 at Radio City Music Hall; no host for the ceremony, which will be televised live by CBS, has yet been named.

The 2005-2006 Broadway season officially ends on May 10 with the opening of Tarzan. Nearly 40 productions have debuted since the beginning of the season last May, starting with After the Night and the Music. Among the shows expected to receive numerous nominations are The History Boys, The Lieutenant of Inishmore, The Drowsy Chaperone, Sweeney Todd, and The Pajama Game.

Rashad received her Tony Award for her performance in the revival A Raisin in the Sun, while Richardson won for the revival of Cabaret and Schreiber for the revival of Glengarry Glen Ross.
