As the deadline for Tony Award nominations approaches, Broadway openings are coming fast and furious. Last night, Faith Healer opened at the Booth, and an after-party was held at the Bryant Park Grill. Here’s Tony Award winner and two-time Academy Award nominee Ralph Fiennes, who plays the title role in Brian Friel’s play.
Also enjoying themselves at the party were Fiennes’s two co-stars: Ian McDiarmid, known to millions of moviegoers as Emperor Palpatine in the Star Wars flicks…
…and two-time Tony winner Cherry Jones, pictured here with her girlfriend, Sarah Paulson, who played Laura in the recent Broadway revival of The Glass Menagerie.
Among the notable first-nighters spotted at Faith Healer: the legendary fashion designer Calvin Klein…
…and stage and screen veteran Holly Hunter.
May Day brought with it the opening of The Drowsy Chaperone at the Marquis Theatre. Here are three of the show’s lovely female stars: Sutton Foster, who plays Janet Van De Graaf…
…Beth Leavel, who plays the drowsy (i.e., “drunk”) chaperone…
… and TV favorite Georgia Engel, who plays Mrs. Tottendale…
The colorful crowd on hand for the Drowsy opening included two fabulous British actresses, Eileen Atkins (currently starring in Doubt) and Siân Phillips (who will appear in the upcoming production of Ronald Harwood’s Quartet at the Bay Street Theatre in Sag Harbor)…
…the gorgeous and talented Jane Krakowski and Saundra Santiago…
…and the one and only Liza Minnelli.
On Wednesday, May 3, The Lieutenant of Inishmore opened on Broadway at the Lyceum after a highly successful Off-Broadway run at the Atlantic Theatre Company, and the after-party was held at BB King’s. Here, pictured left to right, are four members of the show’s ensemble cast: Domhnall Gleeson, Jeff Binder, Brian d’Arcy James, and David Wilmot…
…and here’s an arresting photo of the devilishly handsome Martin McDonagh, author of the play.
Also spotted at the Inishmore party: Logan Marshall-Green, soon to be seen in the Roundabout Theatre Company’s production of Greg Kotis’s Pig Farm…
…and two of Marshall-Green’s co-stars in the recent Off-Broadway hit Dog Sees God, Eddie Kaye Thomas and Ari Graynor.
