Euan Morton will play the title role in the Bay Street Theatre’s production of The Who’s Tommy, June 13-July 9. Marcia Milgrom Dodge will direct and choreograph the show; no other casting has yet been announced.

Based on the famed rock group’s concept album, the show has music by Pete Townshend, lyrics by various writers (including other members of The Who), and a book by Townshend and Des McAnuff. The 1993 Broadway production ran for nearly 900 performances and was nominated for 11Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and won six.

Morton received a Tony Award nomination for his portrayal of Boy George in Taboo. He is currently starring Off-Broadway in Brundibar and recently received a Drama League citation for his performance in The Public Theater’s Measure for Pleasure. His first solo CD, NewClear, has just been released, and he will be performing selections from it on May 15 at Birdland.
