The Broadway revival of The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial will have its final performance at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theater on Sunday, May 21 at 3pm. As of that time, the show will have played a total of 17 regular performances and 27 previews.

Directed by Jerry Zaks, the production stars David Schwimmer, Zeljko Ivanek, Tim Daly, Geoffrey Nauffts, Joe Sikora, Terry Beaver, Murphy Guyer, Brian Reddy, and Ben Fox. Ivanek picked up the show’s sole Tony Award nomination, for Best Actor in a Play. Based on Herman Wouk’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel about a navy Lieutenant who is brought to trial for taking charge of his ship and unseating his Captain, the play was first seen on Broadway in 1954 and had a previous revival in 1983.

In his TheaterMania review of The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial, David Finkle wrote: “Many of those who attend the current revival may find that Wouk’s play feels sketchy in that, for the most part, it presents just the facts of the case. Yes, the author does a certain amount of filling in, as if carefully stuffing pimientos into olives for placement on a buffet table. Still, the impression is that we’re in a courtroom where the jury is kept from seeing or hearing evidence that the judge deems immaterial but that would add spice to the proceedings.”
