Bogosian, McNally, Rebeck Will Be Part of Second Stage’s 2006-2007 Season

A revival of Eric Bogosian’s 1994 play subUrbia, directed by his wife, Jo Bonney, and the New York premieres of Terrence McNally’s Some Men and Theresa Rebeck’s The Scene will be presented by Second Stage Theatre’s during the company’s 2006-2007 season. A fourth production will be announced at a later date.

The season will kick off with subUrbia, September 6-October 29. The play, about seven young Americans who gather in the parking lot of a Pakistani family’s convenience store, was first presented by Lincoln Center Theater with a cast including Josh Hamilton, Martha Plimpton, and Steve Zahn. Bonney, an artistic associate with the company, directed the Second Stage productions of A Soldier’s Play and Living Out.

Next up will be Some Men, November 21-January 14, which focuses on same-sex relationships throughout the 20th century. This play with music is receiving its world premiere this month at the Philadelphia Theatre Company. McNally’s other plays include Love! Valour! Compassion!, Master Class, and Dedication, or the Stuff of Dreams.

Rebeck’s The Scene, which will run February 6-April 1, is set at a Manhattan party. The play recently premiered at the Humana Festival of New Plays. Rebeck’s new work The Water’s Edge, starring Tony Goldwyn and Kate Burton, is being produced this month by Second Stage. Her previous plays include Bad Dates and Spike Heels.
