Macy’s to Host Talent Contest With Tony Tickets as the Prize

Macy’s department store will host a “Sing for Your Tickets” talent competition in Herald Square (Broadway at West 34th Street) on Friday, May 20, from 4 to 7pm. The winner will receive a VIP package including transportation, dinner, “red carpet worthy fashions,” and a pair of tickets for the 59th annual Tony Awards ceremony on Sunday, June 5 at Radio City Music Hall.

Entrants may sing one of eight songs from Tony Award-winning musicals: “Some Enchanted Evening” from South Pacific, “The Sound of Music” from The Sound of Music, “Hello, Dolly!” from Hello, Dolly!, “Cabaret” from Cabaret, “Lullaby of Broadway” from 42nd Street, “What I Did for Love” from A Chorus Line, “All I Ask of You” from The Phantom of the Opera, and “Sunrise, Sunset” from Fiddler on the Roof.

The competition is free and open to the public; the judging committee includes cast members of Avenue Q and Rent. As a special attraction, members of the Broadway companies of Beauty and the Beast, All Shook Up, and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang are slated to perform before the competition.
