Celebrity Line-Up Set for June 1 Stars in the Alley Concert

Tony Award winners Roger Bart, Christine Ebersole, Harvey Fierstein, Sutton Foster, Joanna Gleason, John Lithgow, Andrea Martin, Leslie Uggams, and Ben Vereen will be among the celebrity hosts and performers at this year’s Broadway Stars in the Alley concert. The free annual event will be held in Shubert Alley on Wednesday, June 1 from 11am to 12:30pm.

Also set to participate are 2005 Tony Award nominees Norbert Leo Butz, Sherie Rene Scott, Christopher Sieber, Sara Ramirez. Matthew Morrison, and Kelli O’Hara, plus such other current Broadway stars as Lily Rabe, Richard Kind, Tom Wopat, Frederick Weller, Frenchie Davis, Bruce Vilanch, and Rue McLanahan.

The concert is produced by the League of American Theatres and Producers and presented by Continental Airlines. During the event, the annual Star Award will be given to Joel Klein, chancellor of the New York City Department of Education, for his support of Broadway theater; the presentation will be made by Gerald Schoenfeld, the League’s chairman, and Jed Bernstein, its president.
