Applegate, Azaria, Clapp, et al. Named as Winners of 2004-2005 Theatre World Awards

Sweet Charity star Christina Applegate, Hank Azaria of Monthy Python’s Spamalot, and Gordon Clapp of Glengarry Glen Ross are among the 12 winners of the 2004-2005 Theatre World Awards, given to performers who are described by the awards committee as making their first “reviewable” New York stage appearance.

Following tradition, this year’s committee chose six actors and six actresses for the annual honors, which were first bestowed in 1945. The 22005-2005 awards will be presented at Studio 54 on May 23. Here is an alphabetical list of the winners:

The members of this year’s awards committee are Peter Filichia (Theatermania.com and The Star-Ledger), Harry Haun (Playbill.com), Matthew Murray (Talkin’ Broadway), Frank Scheck (New York Post), Michael Sommers (The Star-Ledger), Douglas Watt (Daily News), and Linda Winer (Newsday).
