2005 Drama League Award Winners Announced

The winners of the 71st Annual Drama League Awards were announced today during a ceremony held at the Broadway Ballroom of the Marriot Marquis Hotel.

In addition to the Distinguished Production awards and a Distinguished Performance award to Norbert Leo Butz (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), the Drama League honored Mike Nichols with the Julia Hansen Award for Excellence in Directing; the Billy Rose Theatre Collection of the New York Public Library at Lincoln Center with the Unique Contribution to the Theatre Award; and the BMI Musical Theatre Workshop with the Distinguished Achievement in Musical Theatre Award.

The ceremony was hosted by Tony Award winner Cherry Jones. Here is a complete list of this year’s nominees, with the winners marked in bold:
