Swiftly fly the years! On Sunday, May 2, Encompass New Opera Theatre celebrated the 80th birthday of the legendary lyricist Sheldon Harnick — co-chair of the organization’s advisory board — at the National Arts Club. Here’s Harnick posing with longtime friend and colleague Charlotte Rae.

Among those on hand to fête Harnick were his wife Margie (center), pictured here with Randy Graff (left), who co-stars in the current Broadway production of the Bock & Harnick classic Fiddler on the Roof, and Glenn Close, who was in one of Harnick’s few Broadway flops: Rex.
Also in attendance at the Harnick tribute were Joseph Stein (left), who wrote the book of Fiddler on the Roof, seen here with veteran Broadway musical arranger Peter Howard…
