Brooklyn to Open on Broadway in October

It has just been announced that the musical Brooklyn will open in October at a Shubert Theatre.

The show was written by Mark Schoenfeld and Barri McPherson; it will feature direction and musical staging by Jeff Calhoun and music supervision by John McDaniel. Previews are scheduled to begin on Thursday, September 23 in advance of an October 21 opening. The cast and design team will be announced shortly.

Brooklyn centers on a band of street singers who, through a mixture of pop and soul music, tell a sidewalk fairy tale about a young girl from Paris whose search for the father she never knew lands her in Brooklyn, New York. The musical had its world premiere engagement at the New Denver Civic Theatre in May 2003.
