Neo Benefit to Celebrate New Musical Theater Writers

The York Theatre Company will present Neo, a benefit performance celebrating emerging musical theater writers, on June 9.

The event will feature songs by a number of writers, including Dan Acquisto, Todd Almond, Leslie Becker, Nell Benjamin, Sammy Buck, Scott Burkell, Douglas Cohen, Christopher Durang, Steven Fisher, David Friedman, Jenny Giering, Amanda Green, Brad Howell Houghton, Gus Kaikkonen, Peter Kellogg, Tom Kitt, Joanne Lessner, Dan Lipton, Paul Loesel, Robert Lopez, Brian Lowdermilk, Jeff Marx, Chris Miller, Pete Mills, Peter Napolitano, Laurence O’Keefe, Pat Rasile, Josh Rosenblum, David Rossmer, Robert Jess Roth, Nathan Tysen, Matthew Ward, and Danny Whitman. Neo will be directed by Jamie McGonnigal, and Mark Hartman will serve as musical director.

Among the performers scheduled to appear are Bryan Batt, James Barbour, Laura Benanti, Matt Bogart, Philip Bosco, Kerry Butler, Matt Cavenaugh, Darius de Haas, Stephen deRosa, Judy Kaye, Deven May, Matthew Morrison, Christiane Noll, Adam Pascal, Tonya Pinkins, Anne Runolffson, Kate Shindle, Nicole Van Giesen, Max von Essen, Barbara Walsh, and John Tartaglia with “Princeton” from Avenue Q.

Neo will begin at 7pm on Monday, June 9, at the York Theatre at Saint Peter’s, located in the Citigroup Center (619 Lexington Avenue at 54th Street). Tickets range in price from $100 to $500 and may be reserved by calling the box office at 212-935-5824, ext. 25.
