Lynne Meadow, the award-winning artistic director of the Manhattan Theatre Club (MTC), will be receiving the 2003 “Mr. Abbott” Award from the Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation on October 27. The award is the only lifetime achievement award bestowed upon directors and choreographers by members of their own artistic industry.

Meadow has served in her position at MTC since 1972, and has directed and produced over 400 New York and world premieres. Among her directing credits are The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife, A Small Family Business, Nine Armenians, The Loman Family Picnic, Woman in Mind, and Ashes.

Joe Miloscia, SDCF executive director, said in a statement, “It is a thrill for our Foundation to be celebrating Lynne and her career in this manner. Lynne has been a creative visionary, a driving force in theater and a renowned artist for more than three decades. Her work as a director and artistic leader of Manhattan Theatre Club stands among the finest examples of theatrical achievement in this country.”

The gala ceremony honoring Meadow will be held on Monday, October 27 at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers and feature cocktails, dinner, and an evening of performance celebrating Meadow. Additional details are forthcoming.
