Ben Gazzara, best known for creating the role of Brick in the original Broadway production of Tennessee Williams’s Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, will help to kick off Bay Street Theatre’s 2003 summer season in Sag Harbor, New York as the star of the world premiere production of Thomas Lysaght’s Nobody Don’t Like Yogi.

Gazzara will star as baseball great Yogi Berra, who, in the play, is seen returning to Yankee Stadium 14 years after leaving the team. Berra reflects on his career, the team itself, and his family, peppering his remembrances with the colorful turns of phrase that he made famous –e.g., “It ain’t over ’til it’s over” and “I didn’t really say everything I said.” Directed by Paul Linke, the Bay Street production will feature costume and set design by Tony Walton (Our Town and Seussical on Broadway) and lighting design by Ken Billington (Dance of the Vampires and the revival of Chicago on Broadway).

Nobody Don’t Like Yogi will run May 20-June 1, with the official opening set for May 24. Single tickets range from $38 to $60; season subscriptions and group discounts are available. Tickets may be purchased at the Bay Street Theatre box office (located at the corner of Bay and Main and Long Wharf in Sag Harbor), by calling 631-725-9500, or by visiting the Bay Street Theatre website at www.baystreet.org.
