The acclaimed Kronos Quartet will perform a special concert on Saturday, May 18th at 9:30PM to benefit Joe’s Pub at the Public Theater. The experimental and eclectic group will premiere a new arrangement of a Sigur Ros composition, in addition to performing Steve Reich’s “Triple Quartet” and pieces from their new recording, appropriately named Nuevo. Tony Award-winning actress and singer Audra McDonald will perform a guest set along with musical director Ted Sperling.

Both the Kronos Quartet and Audra McDonald will be doing their own shows this month at Joe’s Pub, an intimate performance venue which has become a hotspot for new and rising artists. With their current project, the Quartet uses their unique style to explore popular and traditional Mexican music, while McDonald continues to champion the works of new musical theater composers such as Adam Guettel, Jeff Blumenkrantz, Laurence O’Keefe, Jason Robert Brown, and Michael John LaChiusa.

Tickets to this benefit concert are $150 and include an invite to a post-show reception with the artists, as well as a ticket to the star-studded production of Twelfth Night playing at the Delacorte Theatre this summer. Tickets can be purchased at The Public Theater box office (425 Lafayette Street, between E. 4th and Astor Place), and through Tele-Charge by phone (212-239-6200) or online (www.telecharge.com).
