MTC Introduces New Artistic Staff

There will soon be some fresh faces working behind the scenes at the Manhattan Theatre Club. On May 10, artistic director Lynne Meadow and executive producer Barry Grove announced the names of the people who will be rounding out MTC’s artistic staff:

James Pentecost, associate artistic director, has been a Broadway producer, director, and stage manager for many years; his credits include such shows as Crimes of the Heart, La Cage aux Folles, and Nick & Nora. He was also a producer on the Disney features Pocahontas and Gepetto.

Murphy Davis, director of artistic production, was the producer at the Bay Street Theatre in Sag Harbor from 1992 until 1999.

Paige Evans, director of play development, is taking on a new role at MTC, having previously served as literary manager for the company.

Elizabeth Bennett, literary manager, was the literary manager at the La Jolla Playhouse prior to her appointment at MTC.

The above-named individuals will be joining current staff members Clifford Lee Johnson III (director of musical development), Nancy Piccione (director of casting), David Caparelliotis (casting director), and Amy Gilkes (assistant to the artistic director). Now that MTC has acquired a Broadway theater–the Biltmore, currently under renovation–it is more important than ever for the company to have a strong artistic team in place.
