Titled "I've Heard That Song Before: Revivals, Revisals, and Revusicals," the discussion will be moderated by Charles Wright and Marc Miller; it will be held on Thursday, June 8, from 5:30 to 7pm at New Dramatists, 424 West 44th Street. "People are concerned over the abundance of revivals, and the fact that they sometimes play fast and loose with the original material," says Miller. "We're going to ask why there are so many revisals, why so many changes are made, and what it means for musicals in the future."
Scheduled panelists include director/choreographers Susan Stroman and Kathleen Marshall, producer Roger Berlind, Mary Ellin Barrett (author of Irving Berlin: A Daughter's Memoir), and Ted Chapin of the Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization.
The discussion is free and open to the public, but space may be limited. Phone 212-978-0213 for reservations.
