The Velocity of Autumn Will Close on May 4

Broadway's The Velocity of Autumn has announced that it will play its final performance at Broadway's Booth Theatre on May 4, having played 22 previews and 16 regular performances. Tony Award winner Molly Smith directs this two-person play by Eric Coble. Velocity began performances on April 1 and opened April 21.

Starring Academy Award winner Estelle Parsons and two-time Tony winner Stephen Spinella, The Velocity of Autumn focuses on 79-year-old Alexandra, an artist living in a large Brooklyn home. When her adult children decide she shouldn't live alone anymore, Alexandra refuses to leave without a fight. As she amasses 100 Molotov cocktails, an unlikely negotiator slips in through an open window: her estranged son, Chris.

After initially being announced for a Broadway premiere in spring 2012, The Velocity of Autumn instead played a sold-out run at Washington, D.C.'s Arena Stage in fall 2013 before transferring to the Booth.

The Velocity of Autumn has scenic design by Eugene Lee, costume design by Linda Cho, lighting design by Rui Rita, sound design by Darron L. West, and wig design by Paul Huntley.
