In honor of the current Broadway revival of Les Misérables, episode 22 of Mo Brady and Nikka Graff Lanzarone's Broadway podcast, The Ensemblist, will feature a retrospective of the celebrated Broadway musical. The episode will include interviews with Tony winner Randy Graff, Elena Shaddow, Arbender Robinson, and Max von Essen, who represent the casts of all three Broadway productions.

The performers discuss ensemble-member life on the barricade, which requires each actor to take on numerous roles with a series of complicated entrances and costume changes. They also share inside stories from the rehearsal room and offer their thoughts on participating in the global phenomenon of Les Mis.

Randy Graff (Fiddler on the Roof) originated the role of Fantine in the long-running 1987 production. Elena Shaddow, who currently understudies Kelli O'Hara in The Bridges of Madison County, appeared as a replacement in the ensemble of the original Broadway production and covered the role of Cosette. Von Essen also joined the ensemble of the original production and later took on the role on Enjolras in the first Broadway revival. Robinson appears in the ensemble of the musical's current Broadway revival, understudying the role of Marius.
