Edward Watts to Join the Cast of Off-Broadway's The Fantasticks for Just Two Weeks

Watts’ run will lead up to the show’s 56th anniversary on May 3.

Edward Watts will join the cast of the off-Broadway production of The Fantasticks as El Gallo for two weeks only, right before the show's 56th anniversary on May 3. Watts will begin performances at the Snapple Theater Center on April 28 and continue through May 12.

The Fantasticks features music by Harvey Schmidt and book, lyrics, and direction by Tom Jones. It follows a boy and girl who fall in love and then quickly grow apart. The score includes hit songs such as "Try to Remember," "Soon It’s Gonna Rain," and "They Were You."

The cast of The Fantasticks also features Jeremiah James, Jim Schubin, Samantha Bruce, George Lee Andrews, Donald Corren, MacIntyre Dixon, Michael Nostrand, Pierce Cravens, Scott Willis, Rita Markova, and Tom Flagg.

Edward Watts appeared on Broadway as Robert Semple/David Hutton in Kathie Lee Gifford's Scandalous. His other New York credits include the role of Superman in the New York City Center's Encores! production of It's a Bird…It's a Plane…It's Superman. On television, Watts has appeared in The Sopranos, All My Children, Rescue Me, and more.
