Complete Casting Announced for MTC's When We Were Young and Unafraid, Starring Cherry Jones

The two-time Tony winner leads the cast of Sarah Treem’s world premiere drama.

Manhattan Theatre Club has announced complete casting for the world premiere of Sarah Treem's When We Were Young and Unafraid, directed by Tony winner Pam MacKinnon.

As previously announced, two-time Tony Award and Emmy winner Cherry Jones (The Glass Menagerie) will star as Agnes, a women who turns her bed-and-breakfast into an underground women's shelter and takes in a young runaway named Mary Anne, who begins to have a strong influence on her daughter, Penny. Joining Jones in the cast will be Cherise Boothe (Ruined), Patch Darragh (Appropriate), Zoe Kazan (Ruby Sparks), and Morgan Saylor.

The creative team for When We Were Young and Unafraid includes Scott Pask (scenic design), Jessica Pabst (costume design), Russell H. Champa (lighting design), Broken Chord (original music and sound design), and Thomas Schall (fight director).

The production will perform a limited engagement at New York City Center – Stage I, beginning May 21 in advance of an official June 17 opening.
