Masterworks Broadway has announced that it will record the Broadway cast album of Woody Allen's new musical comedy, Bullets Over Broadway, now playing at the St. James Theater. Produced by Doug Besterman and engineered by Frank Filipetti, the recording will take place on April 14. The album will be available for digital download June 3, and the CD will be available for purchase June 10.

Based on the screenplay by Allen and Douglas McGrath for the 1994 film, Bullets Over Broadway tells the story of an aspiring young playwright in 1920s New York who casts a mobster's talentless girlfriend in his new play in order to get it produced on Broadway.

Golden Globe and Emmy nominee Zach Braff (Scrubs) stars as the naïve playwright David Shayne, with Vincent Pastore (The Sopranos) as mobster Nick Valenti and Heléne Yorke (Grease) as girlfriend Olive Neal. The cast also features Brooks Ashmanskas as Warner Purcell, Nick Cordero as Cheech, Marin Mazzie as Helen Sinclair, Betsy Wolfe as Ellen, Lenny Wolpe as Julian Marx, and Karen Ziemba as Eden Brent.

Directed and choreographed by five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman, the production features a score of 1920s musical standards adapted by Glen Kelly with orchestrations by Doug Besterman.
