TheaterMania's Broadway First Dates series takes a look at the first moments in the relationships of our favorite long-lasting Broadway couples. But not all of this season's best couples have the benefit of having been together for years. Sometimes true love starts off as puppy love. So we decided to highlight the most adorable new couples we've seen on Broadway red carpets this season. Some were hesitant to comment on their relationship at such an early stage, while others were more than happy to step out and support their partner. Whatever their feelings about the press, these couples clearly feel like lucky dogs.
Audra McDonald's Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill costar Roxie brought out her main squeeze, former Legally Blonde star Chico to join her on the opening-night red carpet. Both Roxie and Chico were pleased to be spending the evening with one of Broadway's most decorated performers. "I'm sure that one day it will be Roxie's name up there in lights," said the ever-supportive Chico.
Of Mice and Men cast members Violet and Blue stepped out in public together on the opening night of their show. The two actors said that though they're delighted to be performing opposite the likes of James Franco and Chris O'Dowd, the best thing about this production for them has been the chance to get to know each other and discover everything they have in common.
At the opening night for Bullets Over Broadway, the show's lead canine actress, Trixie (right), stepped out for the first time with new beau, The Threepenny Opera's Romeo. The couple was reluctant to talk about their relationship at this stage, but Romeo did tell reporters that they are "very happy."
